Gargi’s journey in dance is a story of passion, dedication, and a deep connection to India's classical traditions. With a rich lineage of artists in her family, including a paternal grandmother who was a Thiruvathira dancer and a maternal great-grandfather, Krishnan Nair (Krishnan Kutty), a renowned Kathakali artist who taught legends in the 1950s, Gargi was destined for the stage.

Early Beginnings

Gargi started her dance journey with Bharatanatyam at the tender age of 3, performing her Arangettam within just six months. Her early talent quickly grew, and by the 1st grade, she was competing in group events. By grade 3, she had ventured into Kuchipudi, and her skills only deepened with time. In the 7th grade, Gargi began participating in individual competitions, eventually representing her district at state-level contests. By grade 12, she achieved an impressive 4th position at the state level for Bharatanatyam, along with multiple group event accolades, including 1st and 3rd positions at state-level Thiruvathira and group dance competitions.

Training

Gargi’s artistic foundation is shaped by her esteemed Guru: Shri. Ravikumar Natyalaya, a passionate dancer and bank professional who has trained numerous notable artists.

While pursuing her professional engineering degree, Gargi continued to hone her craft. She earned a diploma in Mohiniyattam and contributed as a choreographer for college cultural events like NAAC, competitions etc to mention some of many. Her expertise also led her to serve as a judge for sub-district and school-level Kalolsavam competitions.

A Legacy of Excellence

With years of training, countless performances, and a lineage steeped in the arts, Gargi continues to inspire and nurture the next generation of dancers. Her dedication to preserving the essence of classical dance while exploring modern interpretations makes her a dynamic force in the dance community.

Some of here recent Achievements and Milestones are:

  • Guinness World Record: Participated in the world’s largest gathering of dancers performing Mohiniyattam at the ‘Ekathmakam’ event, with over 4,500 participants.
  • Keralolsavam: Secured 2nd prize in Odissi, Kathak and 3rd position in Kuchipudi.
  • Numerous state-level accolades in both group and individual performances.
